Statistics question on the null hypothesis.? Can someone explain to these two questions please?
1. In a test of hypotheses, a researcher used the significance level α = .05. Based on a random sample, she obtained a p value of 0.052. Which of the following statements is true?
A. It may conclude that H0 is true because the sample provides evidence in support.
B. Her sample provides little or no evidence for Ha.
C. There is some evidence against H0, and a study using a larger sample might be useful.
D. The data suggest that further investigation of hypotheses (using another sample of the study) will not be significant at the α = 0.05 level of significance.
2. The time required for students to complete a certain paper and pencil maze follows a normal distribution, with an average of 70 seconds and a standard deviation of 15 seconds. You want to see if the μ-modified time is through meditation, if you have a group of nine college students meditate for 30 minutes, then complete the maze. You calculate the average x of their time to complete the maze and use this information to test hypotheses
H0: μ = 70, Ha: μ a‰ 70
level of significance α = 0.05. The power of your test μ = 60 seconds
A. less than 0,001.
B. 0.0630.
C. 0.5610
D. 0.4877.
