6b PencilPencil Drawing, advice and equipment

The use of any medium of art requires a little knowledge. This article focuses on the tools you use, and some techniques of pencil drawing.

First, consider the pencils themselves. In my experience, pay more to buy a pen just a case of better quality, performance drivers is fairly similar in price range.

The only thing to import when you buy graphite pencils is to have a range of different qualities. "H" led pencils hard. "B" led soft pencils. As the number H or B, the stronger or sweeter they are, so an H9 is very difficult, and B9 is very soft.

In terms of drawing, pencil "control and gentleness" synonymous with lightness and darkness. A hard pencil will be very low, the high gray line, while a pencil, will be darker and less strong brand. Drawing Pencil is a matter of recording light and shadow, if you need to use a range of pencils lighter and darker to capture the tonal variations.

The range that you choose is up to you and depend on the style of drawings you want to do, but the B "agree to most of the drawings. I recommend at least a "HB" (not hard or soft), B, 2B, 4B, 6B, and 9B.

The choice of paper depends also on the type of drawings you want to do, but in general the best type of paper is very smooth (print cartridge). Paper quality is important. The imperfections of the surface of a smooth paper have the bad habit of filling with graphite, and making patches.

Pencil work may require a good amount of mixing and reworking, it is advisable to use a document that is reasonably robust. My personal recommendation is that you are using heavier paper, you can - something that will stand-up a few shots.

Always apply a pencil lightly, and do not press too hard. The aim should be to float the graphite on the paper surface, and not to produce a print. Pressing hard will the dark pencil mark, but it will also distort the paper. Far better results can be obtained by using a darker (soft) pencil lightly, when you need to make darker areas. Changing the angle of the pencil on paper can help you if you tend to be severe. In short, when the pencil is vertical to the paper, it is easy to press hard. Leaning in pencil reduces the amount of pressure that can be applied to its end and the least possible pressure is reached when the pen is leaning so far that is almost horizontal.

When an area of shade, do not rub the pencil back and forth randomly in all directions. Try applying pencil strokes in a uniform direction and precise. The best guidance is often the one that describes the shape of an object, so if something that shade is round, used curved strokes.

The hardest thing to do with a pencil is fixed and the area of flat and even shading. The problem is often that the pencil strokes overlap, so that the overlapping areas are darker. One way to avoid this is always the shadow of a space two or three times to get uniform coverage. As long as you use the correct grade of pencil lightly and regularly, you will not end with darker following. For example, three layers of B should not be as dark as a layer of B2 (but it should be smooth).

The usual approach with a pencil is to work from dark to light. The reason for this is described above, but also recognizes the properties of a pencil. Graphite is a lubricant. If you ask a very low first light shade, you will find that this effectively lubricates the paper, and shading following happens more easily and smoothly. So if you want to shade an area to a "B3" deep, do not go directly into the B3; the accumulation of two of the three stages, for example a B, B2, B3, and then one. If you want a gray area or B8 B9 depth.
