Question degree. 10 points for best answer!? Can I get my BA in German (not education), then take the Alabama Prospective Teacher Testing Program (APTTP), German education start at high school, and work on my Masters I'm already teaching?
What are the qualifications needed to get my certification to teach?
Please help me! I'm so confused!
You normally get your degree in education to be a teacher. Since it appears you are not yet finished with college, why not make a certification program in teaching German? In some colleges, it would mean a major in German and doing training courses, and in others as you would do something major in secondary education - German. You should check with your college to see what it's called there.
If you want to be a teacher and are still in college, there's really no reason not to make your program teacher certification while you're there. First, it saves you time. It will be easier for you to find a job. Finally, you'll be a teacher better and happier if you had your education courses and know what you do when you start to teach.
If you have any questions, contact the Department of ED: http://www.alsde.edu/html/sections/secti ...
For a definitive answer, you must contact the program.
Because public schools are bad to good, qualified teachers, they began to allow people from other professions to teach higher levels.
A teaching certificate is still required to teach in an elementary school, and also for most positions in college. But you were not going to teach German to students in kindergarten, were you?
Personally it seems that this could happen, but the devil is in the details, and APTTP knows everything about them.
Good luck.
