Minar-e-Pakistan is a high minaret Iqbal Park Lahore, built in commemoration of the resolution of Pakistan. The minaret reflects a mixture of Mughal and modern architecture and is built on the site March 23, 1940, seven years before the creation of Pakistan, the Pakistan Muslim League adopted Resolution (Qarardad-e-Pakistan) , requiring the creation of Pakistan.This official statement was first to establish a separate homeland for Muslims living in the South Asia.Pakistan today celebrating this day as a national holiday each year.

The monument attracts visitors from all over Pakistan, and the inhabitants of the walled city of Lahore. The public space around the monument is commonly used for political meetings and public, while the Iqbal Park area is popular with kite-fly

Design

The tower was designed by Naseer-ud-Deen an architect Murat Khan of Pakistan (Dagestan) Russian origin, and structural engineer was Abdur Rahman Khan Niazi. The first stone was laid March 23, 1960. The construction took eight years time, and was completed in 1968 at a cost of PKR 500,000. Today, the minaret provides a panoramic view for visitors who can climb the stairs or elevator. The parks surrounding the monument contains marble fountains and an artificial lake.

Structure

The base is about 8 feet above the ground. The tower is about 60 meters at the base, so the total height of the minaret is about 72 meters above the ground. The unfolding petals of the base of flower are 9 meters high. The diameter of the tower is about 97.5 meters (320 feet). The platform base is shaped five-pointed star and contains two crescent-shaped pools. There is a central spiral staircase with 162 steps rising. The high-dome of the minaret is made of stainless steel inlaid with fine glass pieces.

The structure is reinforced concrete, stone and marble. The rostrum is constructed of patterned tiles, and facing the Badshahi Mosque. The base consists of four platforms. To symbolize the humble beginnings of the struggle for freedom, first platform is built with uncut stones Taxila second platform is made of squared stones, while the third platform of carved stones. Polished white marble platform of the fourth and last is the success of the Movement.Mr Pakistan. Mukhtar Masood a prolific writer and Deputy Commissioner of Lahore, and was responsible for the construction of this monument.

Listings

Basically, there are ten entries converging floral white marble plaques. The inscriptions include the text of the resolution of Lahore in Urdu, Bengali and English, and the text Delhi resolution, which was adopted April 9, 1946. On different plates, Koranic verses and 99 attributes of God are inscribed in Arabic calligraphy, while the national anthem of Pakistan in Urdu and Bengali, extracts from the speech of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Urdu, Bengali and English and some verses of Allama Iqbal are enrolled.
