Chinese calligraphy - What supplies are needed? My father is a big fan of the practice of Chinese calligraphy. It has the basics, but nothing complicated. His birthday is coming - what tool or the offer would be a nice gift that could help him with his handwriting?
My grandfather is also interested in Chinese calligraphy in addition to high quality brushes (made of horsehair), you can get a personalized seal with his name on it. They are personalized and can be made from a variety of semi-precious stones, including jade.
My father is in Chinese painting. He recently made a trip to China and he picked up a lot of supplies there. He picked up a lot of rice paper (the type thin to be used with ink) and several brushes. If you can find a shop that sells authentic Chinese bristle brushes of different sizes that would make a nice gift. See the link below to understand how to choose brushes. You can also subscribe to your father to some classes taught by the masters of calligraphy real.
