Faber Castell Polychromos Pencils

Faber Castell Polychromos PencilsWhat color pencils should I expect? Faber-Castell or Prismacolor Polychromos?

I am an artist and decided to start mingling with the crayons. Prismacolor pencils are generally those recommended, but they are quite expensive in my country. Faber-Castell pencils Polychromos are also expensive but they are currently on sale at the store where I plan to buy my pencils. I saw a couple of good reviews for Polychromos but that's all. There is not much information on Polychromos. What do you think I should get?

What do you think of other brands such as Derwent?

Thank you in advance.

Personally, I prefer Prismacolor, both in the traditional pencil and sticks to cover large area. But whatever you choose Look for colors in the light. pencils cheaper and have less pigment may disappear quickly. If you invest a lot of time in a drawing that you want the color to last. Do not invest in a large ensemble. You can buy sets for specific purpose, such as, portraits or landscapes. They include the basic colors you need to make these subjects. Then you can choose other colors you need and the means.

Happy Drawing!

I use them all.
Primacolor in both pencil and sticks, and Derwent Polychromos. Verithin for precision work.
They are all excellent pencils.
Get the brand names that are cheap / on sale.
Although I just saw the price tag on a color rarely used years ago. $ 0.47. Now, they run $ 1.49!
If you use most of all the colors, the sets are sometimes cheaper than buying individual pencils.
.

It depends on what you are looking for. I like Faber-Castell, because they are softer and Prismacolor and you can really create multiple layers of color. Many people like Derwent, but I did not because I think they are too hard. In fact, I recommend you buy your pencils and expired separately with different brands before settling on a set

I have nothing to add value to chanyart response. I agree. If possible, test different types before making your final decision.

May God bless you.

In the arts, I often use Faber-Castell because its colors are not blurred when you use them.

Test it and see how you like them. I have a set of Prismacolor and I hardly use them. I prefer to do my stuff colored water color.

Faber Castell is a very good brand too! In our university all my graphics instructors recommend Faber Castell for me. Moreover, there is nothing wrong with saving a little money, right?
In addition, they must be perfect for a beginning artist.:) Good luck.
