Eight high school athletes set 6 new records during the 2008 season and followed on the ground. The shining star of the boys had to be German Fernandez Riverbank (CA) High School, who set 2 new records and led all boys by taking first place in five of six middle-distance 1.500, 1.600, 3.000 and 3,200 meters and the mile short 2.
Fernandez ran the 3,000 in 8:04.1 to set a new record for a race high-school-that, and he set a national record with a score 8:34.23 Federation in 3200. He also led all comers with a 3:44.8 in the 1,500, a 4:00.29 in the 1,600 (No. 2 all-time), a 4:01.69 in the mile and a mile in 8:37.22 2.
Chris Derrick of Neuquedn Valley High School in Naperville (IL) ran 5,000 meters in 13:55.96 to the United States for a race high school boys only.
Christine Babcock of Woodbridge High School in Irvin (CA) ran the 1,600 in 4:36.57 to set the new record for girls, breaking the old mark of 4:38.15.
Jordan Hasay of Mission Preparation High School in San Luis Obispo, another outstanding girls' half-distance runner, led the nation with top times in the 3,000 meters (9:23.90), 3,200 meters (10: 03.07) and the two mile (9:55.57). Babcock best 2 mile was 10:07.54.

1,500 meters: 3:38.26 - 3:44.8 by German Fernandez Riverbank (CA) High School.
1,600 meters: 3:53.43 record set at the equivalent distance meters - 4:00.29 by German Fernandez Riverbank (CA) High School. No. 2 performer of all time.
Mile: 3:53.43 - 4:01.09 by Rob Finnerty of Burnsville (MN) High School. No. 7 performer of all time. German Fernandez, Riverbank (CA) High School ran 4:01.69 to become the No. 8 performer of all time.
3,000 meters: 8:03.67 - 8:04.1 by German Fernandez Riverbank (CA) High School. Establishes a new record for a racing school.
3,200 meters: 8:36.3 for 2-Mile - 8:34.23 by German Fernandez Riverbank (CA) High School. National Federation record.
2 Miles: 8:36.3 - 8:37.22 by German Fernandez Riverbank (CA) High School.
3,000 m Steeplechase: 8:50.1 - 9:17.43 by Pat Dupont of Fairport (NY) High School.

Top 110-meter hurdles: 13.22 meters record set equivalent distance - 13.51 by Spencer Adams of Butler High School in Charlotte (NC).
300-meter hurdles Intermediate: from 35.28 to 35.71 by Reggie Wyatt of La Sierra High School in Riverside (CA).
400m Hurdles Intermediate: from 49.38 to 50.46 by Reggie Wyatt of La Sierra High School in Riverside (CA).
4x100 meters: 39.76 to 40.26 by Rowlett (TX) High School.
4x200 meters relay: 1:23.31 - 1:24.06 by Hightower High School in Sugar Land (TX). No. 6 all-time high school relay performance.
4x400 meters relay: 3:07.40 - 3:09.59 by Dominguez High School in Compton (California).
