Is the Art Institute a good school? I thought about going to art school for media arts. There are many art schools there and they all tend to cost the same price. I was seriously looking at one of the art institutes. I want to know all the pros and cons of this school. If you know the best schools I know. Thank you.
I have here is a good school. But not as good as they used to be.
The Art Institutes are a chain of for-profit schools. Quality varies and the cost is high. Beware of such schools, which often are not accredited by a recognized body. Keep in mind they are not usually tell you who teaches the course, while most higher education programs are a big deal of their teachers, because it is their reputation that helps schools are known and respected.
Consider
Carnegie Mellon
RSID
Minneapolis College of Art & Design
Look for programs under various names. Digital Arts, Electronic Arts, New Media - is confusing because of all varieties. Also look at the development of the program. Some are very experimental and fine arts-oriented while others are more communication design. The best schools focus on theory, history, visual aesthetics and become proficient with the software and hardware. The worst is that the snap "how to use a software training programs. Ask lots of questions to help make a good decision.
No, Art Institute schools are not great. Try looking at Savannah College of Art & Design. They are very expensive, but they are one of the best art schools. Continue to seek ... There are many universities and colleges with schools of art. I'd rather have a Bachelor of Arts instead of wasting $ $ $ in some schools Art Institute. Accreditation is completely different colleges and universities.
