Is there another way for teacher certification in New Jersey? I am 39 years old, have an MBA in Marketing Research, BS in business administration. And an AA in Marketing. I'm looking to change careers and become a professor of mathematics and science in public schools. At my age, from scratch would be almost impossible.
What programs are there in New Jersey helps people like me to expedite the certification process, particularly with concentrations in math and science?
See the link below. You do not know where you live in New Jersey, but Brookdale offers a program called new avenues for teaching. It's full of math and science people like you.
Not to mention that many options are there for you. Visit the department NJ. Site Ed. Most of the information you need should be there.
My advice would be to do so. Normally I would say that most districts do not hire teachers alternative route. But this is not the case for mathematics and science is the highest demand.
I went back to school for another degree in health and physical education. I decided against the alt. road because I knew I would have problems getting hired.
Good luck!
I'm in Arizona so the laws may be different. Since you have a degree you can just pass the certification exam teaching?
The schools here have such a shortage of teachers in the last 2 years I have seen two different people come to teach and has a degree but no certification and the director has requested certification of emergency for them, they Should they get their certificate this year. There are many ways around it. Also most private schools do not need a certificate as long as you are qualified.
