Is it possible to have my laptop TV tuner to record from my VCR.? I want to see if I can play my old tapes and save them on my hard drive with a TV tuner.
Yes. There are two ways:
1) If you have a line on tuner cards. audio and video line level (RCA yellow, red and white plugs) are a standard and if you have line inputs on your card, then all you need to get a cable and connect two devices together for All recorders have a level line outputs. You will need some video editing software online Nero.
2) If you do not line level, you always have done by using the RF output of the VCR, you will need a coaxial cable to connect to the tuner. Tune in to channel 3 and once you get the video on your screen, you should be able to use Nero or similar software to save it similarly.
One caveat is that you record from an analog device (VCR) for the video quality is not great but it is best that you could do given the low fidelity of your source (tape).
Thank you that was very helpful! Flag
