OK I just got a wireless router I have 2 notebooks and a wired computer thats connected to the direct route? ok my wired computer is extremely slow, but my 2 wireless computers are super fast ............. Whats with the computer cable if I need to change the settings?
whats the port speed / mode on the direct link? if it is hardcoded to something like 10/100/full means that the network adapter connected directly on UR computer must be one of the same, and if thats ur set on auto-negotiation NIC at its highest level of promotion other than this u can replace the cable or card to adapt the speed of Ur router
If you plug your laptop using the same cable (or one of them) directly using an Ethernet cable are they so slow?
Have you tried a different Ethernet cable?
It is equally slow for your laptop to use the Ethernet connection?
Am assuming that the router uses DHCP to assign IP addresses, etc.?
what brand and model of router is it?
Did you test or try to connect your laptop to the router using the same Ethernet cable?
When you do the above do not slow down for connecting laptops wise?
Have you updated your NIC drivers on your desktop?
So are the drivers for your motherboard to date on your desktop?
What is your router? Linksys
Hello,
From your question, it is clear that your laptop is faster, it means that your internet connection is very good!. The solution I guess is to try to clean your cache. as follows, hope this work.
in your browser
Tools -> Internet Options -> click on Delete Cookies and Delete temporary files.
It appears from all the temp files that are stored in your machine. It will only speed is always the same for the first time. Then you will certainly find faster the second time ..
