Refurbished Laptops Notebooks

I'll buy a Mac and I am a student so it is a bit expensive. I could get the exact same laptop except "refurbished" for $ 300.00 less. Should I take the risk? What is so wrong with the remodeling? Will I have problems or cause me any trouble as the new laptop would not be the cause? If it breaks is it covered by Apple?
