Can you recommend the school library media specialist as a career after graduate? 23, graduated in '06 with a BA in journalism career to date has not been great, but there was an offer to work on the website of a newspaper. However, entertaining the idea of returning to school to earn MLS for teacher-librarian, I could finish within 18 months and to continue to work part time at a job I have now. Any reflection on what my best move perhaps?
I am sorry that your career is not in the sense that you would have hoped.
I like your way of thinking to pursue a Master of Library and there is a program on the ASU Polytechnic campus of Arizona. (I guess by your name you could be in Connecticut?) You also need to start building work experience as much as you can, and here in AZ, there may be more career opportunities back East . (I'm from New Jersey originally, so I know about the fierce competition for a job). With a little experience under your name, and the educational context, you may be qualified to manage the media center at a large high school or a local community college. You also have your young age as an advantage. So many people start second and third careers well into their late 30s or early 40s. I think you have many positive options out there! In addition, the assessment of your current lifestyle. Are you a risk taker? Willing to relocate and take a chance? Or do you need something very stable and permanent right away?
