How do I become a special education itinerant teacher? I recently discovered on the trade of ESIA. I want to return to school in New York to become a state, but I'm not sure what schools offer this type of specialized degree. Does anyone have information as to where I can begin my search?
I am a seit. To obtain certification by NYS you need to be a seit you need a master's degree in special education and specialize in early childhood.
Talk to a counselor at a college and they will map for you.
You must decide what you want to be highly qualified, hearing, vision, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech or language.
It is very useful to get a degree in special education at the undergraduate. One idea is to go for the K-12 and certification classes for preschoolers. However, the best source is to locate your County District middle school, because they might have more information. Overall, the best source is to talk to admissions counselor and a special education teacher at the local college to see what remains to be wise.
You must have a degree in special education from early childhood. I do not know what part of NY you are, but on Long Island there are two schools, Hofstra University and Adelphi University. I am currently enrolled at the Adelphi and enjoy. I suggest volunteering some time in a preschool special education to see if you like. Good luck!
You can also search the districts in your area who are looking for one and read the job descriptions and requirements for the position. Many districts post job openings online.
