Steam Locomotive DrawingsFlying Scotsman Prepare for tests

The Flying Scotsman (4472) is currently the subject of a six-year overhaul to bring it to life on the railways of Great Britain [1]. It was decommissioned in 1963 after breaking multiple records due to its fast running speed. Now, the train should be tested next year, the overhaul is nearly complete.

Currently owned by the National Museum of Railways in York, the A3 Pacific steam locomotive was built in 1923. He traveled 2 million miles before being retired, so it is not surprising that the process needs a technical overhaul and outside it back on track. The trial will be held on the East Lancashire Railway (ELR) after work on the train is completed.

The train is so popular with fans - and even those who are not - in Britain, who remember the Flying Scotsman has been the flagship of the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER). In fact, this train was the first steam locomotive officially reaching speeds of 100 mph.

It is hoped that the framework will be tested by pulling the passenger trains on the ELR, which would certainly attract many visitors to the area to watch the train in its new glory. Andy Coward of ELR, said: "It's one of those names that everyone is so interested in trains or not, to connect with. It is an honor and a privilege for us to be involved in the trial of the Flying Scotsman.

It is clear that much interest in this project, particularly Greater Manchester railway heritage enthusiasts to get the tests, but people across the country too. Train spotters probably love to add their lists in 4472, and those of memorabilia Flying Scotsman will be delighted to see reality in action. Fingers crossed that the rest of the review is proceeding as planned!
